Last week we had some nice warm or I should say hot days for the end of September.  What bliss it is to be warm and soak in the sun and have the windows open...well I guess you better close those windows, least you have a stink bug invasion, as some folks have had aaaannnddd I guess it is not soooo much fun being so hot it is hard to cool off.  BUT wasn't it better then the cold we are having right now?  

As October has rolled in, it has brought some unwanted company in the form of cold days with it.  I am not ready to turn on the heat or have a fire in the wood stove yet.  Although I do love to be warm and cozy when it is cold outside, it is glorious.  I am still trying to recover from the cold we experienced last winter, it was COLD.  So cold it was hard to be warm and cozy, unless you wanted to have an extremely high electric bill, because your heat was working so hard to keep it warm inside it never turned off.  Fortunatly, we have a wood stove so most of our house was heated with good old fashioned wood.  Don't get me wrong I am a fan of snow, it was not the snow that bothered me, no not in the least, more so the fidgeted cold temperatures we had and I want to soak in the warm sun as much as I can.  Much like Frederick the field mouse did while the other mice were gathering their stores for winter in this book by Leo Lionni.  

Anyway here is wishing for warmer weather already in the beginning of fall...it is going to be a long winter... 

So to warm you up remember those days last week when we could wear shorts and t-shirts?  What could be more fun to a two year old boy than digging when it is nice and warm outside and you don't have to wear gloves (okay, I guess it is not that cold yet!)...

I love that Joel and Ella have a pooch they can play catch with and chase. Our poor pooch has not had much loving these past few years, since we have entered into parenthood. Now she has someone who loves to be chased by her and to chase her and to give her tons of treats, what more could a dog ask for!

Sweet Summer Memories

Just a few pictures for now from the summer!

This a picture of my side of the family in front of the firehouse where my mom was born! My Grannie and Grandpa where on their way to the hospital and did not have enough time to get there. So my mom was born in the backseat of the car in front of the Silver Spring fire station! It is now a yummy restaurant and my parents have become regulars! When Nat and Shannon were visiting for Mitch & Jackie's wedding we went out to dinner! Here we all are minus Mitch & Jackie!

Todd and I were able to get away for 24 hrs while Joel and Ella stayed with Mamaw and Papaw! Here we are in baltimore!

What would a summer be without a trip to the cabin and a hike!

Colorful, Cute, Cabooses!

Here are my two kiddos sporting their colorful cute cabooses, for a contest to win a pack of bumgenius diapers from cottonbabies!

We have been cloth diapering since Joel was a baby and have bought all of our cloth diapers from cottonbabies.com, which just so happens to be an excellent online store! We have mostly used prefolds, which I absolutely adore. They are economic, simple and super absorbent! Never had a leak, unless I didn't change a soaking wet diaper in time (whoops did I just utter a mommy mishap out loud, I mean in type?)

Anyway, we do have a few bumgenius diapers, which are just so cute. They are perfect for the summer (really any season!) but what could be cuter then a baby sporting just their cute, colorful, diaper on a hot summer day! I love the colors they have and wish I had more, but I am content with our boring, work horse of a diaper, perfect prefolds.

Oh where, oh where has my summer gone?

Summer, so perfect, so delightful, so SHORT! The older I get the shorter summer seems. I cannot believe that we have reached the end of summer so quickly. We have had a pretty good summer here at the Geary household...busy, but good. So to re-cap our summer in a bulleted format this is what we have done.

- witnessed a brother get hitched

- swam in a stream

- launched fireworks illegally

- joined a gym

- ran on a treadmill

- flew to hobby airport

- did not see an alligator

- was chased by BIG mean ducks

- had lots of fun with graham, kate, shannon and gram-gram!

- visited an emergency room

- flew to bwi airport

- re-arranged our entire house (well it seems like most of it!)

- visited parks

- swam in a lake

- had ice cream

Our emergency room visit was for Ella, who was screaming the night before we were to fly from houston to bwi. So we thought it was better to take her during the night than wait till morning when we would have needed to catch a flight. It turned out that she had her first ear infection, poor baby. Joel ended up having an ear infection too. We have been battling some sort of sickness at least once a month since may it seems, maybe the fall will be better??

Anyway, I cannot seem to get my act together with anything these days, which is why I don't even have pictures to upload! Guess where they are? Still on our camera from the entire summer!! Oh well next time maybe, I need to get myself back in gear! I think I will blame facebook.

Fun Times!

Fun times in the front yard. Ella had some grass on her face and Joel is trying to take it off of her! So nice of him. At least he is not pushing her over, which he has now decided is more fun...oh the joys! Two year olds, you love them and you ah love them! :-)




Joel now knows the way to the park when we drive there, so if I ever drive in the opposite direction he says "ober way maee, ober way....pak time pak time!!" so fun!

SWINGS!! Joel has never been a fan of the swings until recently, and even now it only last maybe 2 or 3 minutes, he would much rather slide and climb than swing!
Ella on the other hand loooooves to swing!!

Julie and Matt's Wedding!!!

On Saturday May 22, my good friend from college was married to Mr. Matt Nardi! I was so excited for this wedding and could not wait!! They have been engaged since Christmas '08 so a little over a year. It is amazing how God brings two people together to share their lives as one for the rest of their time here on Earth, what a blessing! Matt and Julie were glowing and so happy on their wedding day as I am sure they will still be as newly weds! Here are some pictures of the day!

lately

Yes I know, it has been super long since I last updated here. What can I say, I have been busy. but really just putting it off, because if I forget to upload photos before I start writing they end up where I don't want them and it is a pain to move them to where I want them to be...I guess I need to figure out if there is an easier way to upload photos on this place, i just don't spend enough time here! :-)

Since I last updated, Joel has had his 2nd birthday! He is a little man now and as of the last two weeks or so I am no longer "mama" but now "maee" (mommy). After every question or statement he will end it with, "maee?" I kind of like maee and I hope it sticks! :-) He is talking a lot more in four to five word sentences and copies everything we say and he will let you know if he doesn't want to do something with a calm, but stubborn "no" and a shake of the head! He is also very into "mine" now, we have to work on the sharing. My little two year old you are so cute and fun (most of the time) I love you! Here is a picture of our GQ man!

Ella is 7 months old now, wow the time does fly! She is so sweet, likes to reach for everything, roll around the floor and finally has two teeth popping through! She loves DOGS, any kind of dog big, small, slobbery, hairy, wild, calm and she will flap her arms and legs and laugh/smile and "talk" them! Her favorite thing to do is watch her brother when he is running, or jumping, or skipping around the house. She will laugh like crazy! I think one of my favorite moments as a mom is listening to my two kids laugh with one another, I wish it could last forever! Here are two pictures of our beautiful little girl!

Hopefully we will have some more posts up about what we have been up to lately as we go into summer and start doing more things outside, but for now I will leave you with this!

Snow number 1 and other random pictures

Our first snow of the season on December 6th! We got a bunch of wet white snow!! Joel was not too sure what to think about the "weird" stuff falling from the sky...and he was not too happy about us making him go into it!! ahhh :-)
